Guests poisoned at wedding party

BOGOR (JP): At least one wedding guest died and 100 others are being treated for food poisoning, allegedly caused by dishes served at a Sunday wedding reception in Udik village, Ciampea district.

While most of the 100 victims are being treated at health clinics here, some are having medical treatment at home.

Meanwhile, the body of the dead victim, identified as Pai, 45, a resident of Cisadane village, was taken away by the Bogor Police and transferred to Bogor's Indonesian Red Cross Hospital for a postmortem examination.

According to Bogor Police detective chief Santun Marpaung, the first victim fell ill at the party. The party was hosted by Juned, whose daughter Eva Yunita was marrying Aman Nuryaman.

"The first person to fall ill complained of a stomachache. No one, not even the guests, suspected it to be anything more than that," he said.

"The wedding lasted for one day and one night," Santun said.

In the coming days, more and more of the wedding guests started to complain of various ailments, from continuous vomiting, severe dehydration, stomachache to diarrhea.

"Doctors still have not confirmed the matter. The case is being studied," Santun said. (24/ylt)
