Guess What? Susy Susanti

Can a shuttler cook? Well, former badminton queen Susy Susanti wants to prove her culinary skills by opening a restaurant near her home in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

However, Susy, who gave birth to her second child, Albertus Edward Wiratama, on June 9, said she was still unsure what kind of food the restaurant would dish up.

"I don't know what will be on the menu at my restaurant. There are so many restaurants in this area, from Chinese food to seafood. I want something different," said the 1992 Olympic Games gold medalist.

Susy and husband Alan Budikusuma had planned to open an outlet of an American fast-food franchise, but the couple canceled the plan because of the costs.

"Alan is now concentrating on his sports equipment business on Jl. Pintu Air in Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta," she said.

Susy admitted she had some initial difficulties adjusting to life away from badminton.

"When we both decided to resign (from badminton), we were afraid of our ability to survive in society. But now we have proven that we are OK," she said. (yan)
