Guess What? Harry Darsono

The thing famous designer Harry Darsono hates most in life is quarreling.

"I hate quarreling. If people start to argue with me, I ask for an apology straight away to prevent any run-in," he said.

But should one apologize if one hasn't done anything wrong?

"I don't mind making an apology even if I am in the right," he said. "You know, we have to follow ilmu padi (the wisdom of the paddy fields)."

He was referring to the saying semakin berisi semakin merunduk, which literally means "the more you know, the lower you bow."

Harry said that apologizing did not necessarily mean that one admitted being wrong. He said it could be a winning strategy, as it could shame the other party into realizing their fault.

His avoidance of quarrels probably explains why Harry, who celebrated his 44th birthday last month, looks so young.(sim)
