Guess What? Andi Mallarangeng
A familiar face was spotted during the semifinals of the Bank Mandiri national soccer league at the Senayan Stadium in Central Jakarta on Thursday evening.
Andi Alfian Mallarangeng, a political observer who is also an assistant to the state minister of regional autonomy, was seen queuing for the match, wearing a red band bearing the name of PSM, one of the semifinalists from Makassar, tied around his left arm.
"Yes, I'm a strong supporter of PSM," said the Makassar-born father of two. "I'm fresh from attending a hearing at the House of Representatives. Now I want to see a soccer match."
He recalled that he never missed PSM performances.
"I used to climb up on anything to be able to see PSM playing. But I won't have to do that now," he grinned, adding that he came with his eldest son, Gemilang Z.M. Mallarangeng or Gilang.
"It's not good to be involved all the time in politics. I came here to refresh myself. Besides, I'm accompanying him (pointing at his son). He loves soccer."
He said that he would likely watch the final match on Sunday if PSM managed to get that far. And PSM did it. They will next play Pupuk Kaltim of East Samarinda at the stadium. (ivy)
