Guard strung up by pants

JAKARTA (JP): A West Nusa Tenggara security guard was found
strung up by his pants in his detention cell yesterday after
admitting he was ashamed of being caught stealing money from his
employer, police said.

I Ketut Sutesnan, 32, was arrested on charges of stealing Rp
45 million (US$18,750) from Bank Aken in the West Nusa Tenggara
capital of Mataram early Monday.

"The suspect begged me not to disclose his case to the media
so as not to worsen his anxiety," West Lombok Police Precinct
Chief Lt. Col. Junaidhy Tiansyah told Antara.

Sutesnan had also refused his wife's visit because he was so
ashamed of what he had done, Junaidhy said.

Doctor Dona of the Mataram General Hospital confirmed the
detainee had committed suicide.

Junaidhy said Sutesnan was found in a critical condition at
about 4 a.m. yesterday. The detainee died on the way to the
hospital, he added. (pan)
