Group complains of foul smell

JAMBI: An environmental group in Jambi has complained about an
unpleasant smell from untreated garbage due to the tardiness of
the city administration in dealing with the problem.

Director of the Center for Community and Environment Advocacy
(PALM) Sigit Eko Yuwono said on Thursday the foul smell had
disturbed local residents.

The city administration ought immediately to deal with the
garbage problem, otherwise it could cause disease.

"The huge amount of garbage, combined with heavy rain, could
threaten people's health," Sigit said.

He added the volume of garbage around the city had increased
during the Idul Fitri holiday. --Antara
