Grieving woman survives fall

BANDUNG, West Java: A young women miraculously survived after
throwing herself out of the fifth floor of the Al-Islam Hospital
here on Tuesday in an attempted suicide.

The woman, identified as Lina, 24, was still in coma Tuesday
evening. Doctors said she suffered several broken bones after the
15 meter fall.

Lina was apparently filled with grief and desperation just
minutes before her fall.

A family member said Lina looked very depressed after hearing
that her husband Dede Rahmat, 26, had died of lung disease in the
hospital.

She suddenly ran to the fifth floor, screaming hysterically
and jumped off the building straight to the ground, Antara
reported.

"She is alive and her condition is stable, but her body is
covered with bruises and broken bones," relatives, who declined
to be named, said. (dja)
