Green light for probe in Aceh

JAKARTA: Aceh military commander Maj. Gen. Endang Suwarya said on Friday any military officers in Aceh were ready for questioning in connection with alleged corruption cases that took place during the one-year martial law in the province.

"We are ready to be grilled. We don't think we are guilty, but please go ahead with the investigation," he said after a ceremony at the Indonesia Military (TNI) Headquarters in Jakarta.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has announced the TNI was involved in alleged irregularities in some of 68 projects worth Rp 2.7 trillion during the implementation of the martial law.

Endang said military internal affairs staff had investigated the cases and found no violations.

"If the KPK says so, we are ready for the questioning. But they must prove (their charges) in accordance with the law," he said. -- Antara
