Gramedia to print 'AWSJ'
JAKARTA (JP): PT Gramedia, the publisher of the Kompas daily and one of the largest newspaper printers in Indonesia, will commence printing The Asian Wall Street Journal within the next few months, Dow Jones and Company said in a statement.
The financial newspaper's president William Adamopoulos said his company was delighted to add Jakarta as the paper's ninth print site.
"We were pleased to receive word last week that the Indonesian government had approved local printing," he said.
President of PT Gramedia Jacob Oetama said the company was pleased to work with the region's premier business daily.
"Morning availability of The Asian Wall Street Journal's extensive news and analysis will give Indonesia's businesspeople the competitive edge they need in today's international marketplace,' he said.
Current ABC audited circulation of the paper in Indonesia stands at 3,473 copies from July to December 1997. The paper expects circulation will increase to between 5,000 and 6,000 copies in conjunction with local publication, based on its experience with the recent launches in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and in Seoul, South Korea.
