Govt to sponsor job expo

JAKARTA: In a bid to provide opportunities to job seekers, the central government will hold from April 27 to April 28 a job expo at the Jakarta Fairground in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

In an interview with Tempo News Room, Kirnadi, director of employment and manpower development at the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, said his office was planning to hold such an expo at least every other year.

"We will establish a special team to supervise the job expos to prevent possible fraud," he said.

He was referring to job expos that charged entrance fees, fearing that such events were held only so that organizers could make easy money from job seekers.

"Each company wanting to participate in the expo must submit their company profile, including available job postings. Any company that fails to prove they have vacant positions will be subject to sanctions," Kirnadi said. -- JP
