Govt to select KKR members
JAKARTA: The government is expected to start selecting members of the Judicial Commission and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (KKR) next month, an official said on Wednesday.
Abdul Gani Abdullah, the director general of legislation with the justice and human rights ministry, said the two commissions must be established by February and March next year.
The government will propose 14 candidates for selection by the House of Representatives to sit on the seven-member Judicial Commission, and would name 42 candidates for the KKR, which has 21 seats, he said.
Abdul Gani promised the selection process would be transparent and accountable.
The government' selection team will include representatives from all related government agencies and non-governmental organizations, as well as academics. -- JP
