The government will propose 14 candidates for selection by the House of Representatives to sit on the seven-member Judicial Commission, and would name 42 candidates for the KKR, which has 21 seats, he said.
Abdul Gani promised the selection process would be transparent and accountable.

JP/4/SCENE Immigration office prepares online data base
JAKARTA: The immigration directorate at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights plans to establish an online information system connecting its 380 offices and consulates as well as 126 entry points across the country.
The system will be important in monitoring and obtaining accurate data on people entering and leaving the country, immigration director-general Iman Santoso said on Wednesday.
He said the system would also help increase security in the country, which has seen a series of terrorist attacks.
The project, which has been in the pipeline for six years, will cost some US$200 million, Iman said, adding that his office is seeking approval of the finance ministry.
The information from the online data base will be shared with other state institutions such as the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), the Attorney General's Office, the National Police and the National Narcotics Agency. -- JP

Police powerless to apprehend Maria
BANDUNG: The National Police admitted on Wednesday they were having difficulties in bringing home Maria Pauline Lumowa, a prime suspect in the Rp 1.7 trillion (US$185 billion) BNI scandal, for prosecution in Indonesia.
Maria, a Dutch citizen and an Indonesian by birth, is reportedly living in Singapore.
Her foreign nationality and the absence of an extradition treaty with Singapore has made it difficult for the Indonesian authorities to prosecute her in Jakarta, National Police chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar said in Bandung, West Java.
"Maria can easily move from one country to another, and there is nothing we can do. Based on the results of our investigation, she has left Singapore. However, we will continue to trace her whereabouts," he added. --JP

"We have sent detectives to monitor rented houses, which are often used as hideouts by the suspected bombers, in every city, regency, district and subdistrict across the country. We hope to arrest them as soon as possible," said Suyitno. --JP
