Govt to provide place for job expo

JAKARTA: The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration has promised to find a permanent place to host a job expo to help job seekers in the country.

Minister Jacob Nuwa Wea said job seekers would not be charged for the service, which aims to provide a meeting point between job seekers and employers.

Job seekers had to pay Rp 20,000 to enter a job expo recently held by a private event organizer in Jakarta.

The number of unemployed increases each year by an estimated 2.5 million, while the country's economy only grew by 4 percent last year, below the minimum 7 percent needed to absorb the growing workforce. -- Antara
