Governor's wife quits MPR
PALU, Central Sulawesi: Following the pattern of the past few days, which has seen families of senior officials give up their various posts, Mrs. Kamsiah Paliudju, wife of Central Sulawesi Governor Banjela Paliudju, has given up her seat as a member of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR).
Head of the provincial public affairs office, Baharuddin Tiadja, said here yesterday that the resignation was in line with the current mood for reform and eradication of corruption, collusion and nepotism.
"Mrs. Kamsiah was selected as an MPR member on behalf of Central Sulawesi regional representatives for the 1998/2003 term. But she realizes that she is the wife of a governor and, thus, has by her own free will decided to submit her resignation," Baharuddin said, reported Antara.
It was not immediately known when she submitted her resignation or why she had to wait till now to resign rather than when she was initially chosen.
