Governor Sutiyoso shook up his administration on Thursday
moving 27 officials out of their key positions in a bid to
improve public services in the capital.

Eight of the 27 officials were replaced as they have already
reached retirement age, while the remainder were promoted.

Among officials who got promoted included City Spatial Agency
head Nurfakih Wirawan, who was appointed as Assistant to City
Secretary for Development Affairs. His new office is in charge of
supervising infrastructure projects in the capital.

Agencies under Nurfakih's supervision include the City
Transportation Agency, City Public Works Agency, City Sanitation
Agency, City Spatial Agency, City Mining Agency, City Environment
Management Body (BPLHD) and City Street Lighting Agency.

Nurfakih replaced Hari Sandjojo, who moved to his new position
as assistant to city secretary for financial affairs, which was
previously held by Deden Supriyadi. Deden is now an assistant to
the city secretary for economic affairs.

Another new official was Wishnu Subagio Yusuf, who was
appointed as head of Public Works Agency. He will be responsible
for construction and maintenance of major infrastructure projects
including roads and flood mitigation.

Wishnu, who is former deputy head of the Public Works Agency,
replaced Mohammad Fodly Misbach, who is now at the retirement
age.

Deputy head of City Transportation Agency Nurachman was also
promoted to head of the agency, replacing Rustam Effendy Butar-
Butar, who will also retire.

Sutiyoso, however, promoted Bambang Gardjito, who is currently
being investigated by police for allegedly forging the signature
of Deputy Governor Fauzi Bowo in order to issue taxi permits.

Bambang was promoted from his previous position as head of the
business division at the City Transportation Agency to become
head of the TransJakarta Busway Management company, and he will
be responsible for the operation of all busway corridors in the
city.

Sutiyoso said that he would immediately replace Bambang if he
was proven guilty of forging Fauzi Wibowo's signature.

Other officials who retired on Thursday included assistant to
the city secretary for economic affairs Mak'mun Amin, head of
City Asset Bureau Khairul Ishak Mahadi, head of City Cemetery
Services Emilson Bachtiar and head of TransJakarta Busway
Management Irzal Z. Djamal.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Sutiyoso said he
would assess seriously the performance of all new officials in
the first six months in their offices.

He said that the assessment was needed to for internal
monitoring if they strayed from the guidelines, which have been
set for all officials of the city administration.

The governor stressed that new officials should stay away from
any corrupt practices because he would take stern actions against
officials proven to be involved in corruption.
