Governor opens PKK contest
Governor Surjadi Soedirdja yesterday opened the final of a city wide contest on child healthcare organized by the Family Welfare Movement (PKK).
The competition, held in conjunction with the 49th anniversary of Indonesian Independence and the 467th birthday of Jakarta, was aimed at raising awareness about breast feeding and child healthcare.
PKK has been actively involved in numerous education and health programs aimed at educating parents, especially low-income and uneducated residents in rural and urban areas.
Yesterday's competition was participated by winners of a similar competition held at the mayoralty level.
The competition featured six contests, including a simulation game on bringing up children, preparing food for school children, a speech contest on measures to reduce infant and childbirth mortality rates, a speech contest on how to nurture toddlers and a bazaar. (arf)
