Governor accused of corruption

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: A law expert called on the South Kalimantan state prosecution office to investigate allegations of corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN) against Governor Sjachriel Darham, even after the majority in the legislative council had accepted his accountability report.

Muhammad Hadin Muhjad of the state-run University of Lambung Mangkurat told a discussion on Thursday that prosecutors should talk with an anti-KKN team headed by Ideham Zarkasi that had looked into the governor's accountability report.

In particular, the prosecutors should look into irregularities in the administration's budget, Hadin said.

The governor's report was endorsed by the council after a vote. The United Development Party (PPP), the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) and the Indonesian Military/National Police faction voted in favor. The National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Golkar Party voted against. (04)
