Government urged to repair roads

TANGERANG: Outgoing Tangerang Council speaker Dadang Kartasasmita demanded that Banten Governor Djoko Munandar take a look at the regency's badly damaged roads.

"Maintenance of the main thoroughfares here is the responsibility of the provincial administration, not the regency," he said on Friday.

"I have surveyed three main roads: Jl. Raya Serpong, Jl. Raya Serang and Jl. Raya Curug-Parung Panjang. Potholes exist along most of the length of these roads, and they cause major traffic congestion and accidents to roads users," he said.

Regent Ismet Iskandar claimed that he had officially asked the governor to repair the damaged roads but no action had been taken thus far. -- JP
