Government provides training for widows

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: The Aceh provincial government has began
vocational training and psychological counseling for 80 widows,
victims of the prolonged war in the troubled province. The
program began several days ago.

The widows came from Nagan Raya, Southeast Aceh, East Aceh and
North Aceh regencies, said Yusran, a government official
coordinating the training.

The program is aimed at providing skills, including sewing, to
the widows to enable them to earn a living and to help them
overcome the trauma of losing their husbands and children. --
