Good books

After reading your article The difficulty of finding a good book in Jakarta (5 October 1996), I could not determine if I agreed or disagreed with its contents.

PT Toko Gunung Agung, known as a national chain bookstore was not even mentioned as a possible source for imported books, but at the same time I also concurred with the general content.

PT Toko Gunung Agung believes that this is such a problem that the company will be opening two new stores this year with more western books than any other bookstore.

The opportunity to satisfy customers is great, but as several interviewees mentioned, price is also an issue. Our goal is to make more "good books" affordable to all our customers, whether the books are local or imported. The self-promoting tone of this letter is to remind readers that there are also good Indonesian- owned bookstores and that Jakarta will no longer be void of good books.
