Gold design contest

JAKARTA (JP): Local gold jewelry designers are invited to take part in this year's Millennium Gold Design Competition organized by the World Gold Council (WGC).

The competition, Gold for Eternity, is, for the first time, open to entries from 10 regions in Asia, including Indonesia.

It will feature three different categories for which participants can enter their creative designs. While the first category, designing gold jewelry comprising a set of three pieces, is open to the public, the other two categories (collector's gold coin, unique gold object), are restricted to professional jewelry designers only.

Participants must find inspiration for their designs from some of the world's great artists.

Design sketches and entry forms must be submitted to the WGC office at Tamara Center Sixth Floor, No. 602, Jl. Jend. Sudirman Kav. C24, Jakarta 12920, by April 30.

After submitting their final work, the winners of the regional contest will participate in the Pan-Asia Competition. The judging panel, consisting of representatives from the World Gold Council, gold jewelry industry and artists from Asia, will award the winning designers with a trophy and a free trip to visit South African gold mines.

The competition is sponsored by Anglogold, the world's largest gold producer.
