Goh's men nabbed, released

JAKARTA: City police arrested two Singaporean security officers in Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong's entourage during a raid at Stadium discotheque, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, in the small hours of Tuesday, but released them later.

"We also nabbed two Singaporean students along with two of Goh's bodyguards," city police chief Insp. Gen. Makbul Padmanegara said, as quoted by Antara news agency.

"The four Singaporeans were arrested because they couldn't produce any proof of identity at the raid," he added.

The police, however, subsequently released the Singaporeans after they produced valid passports.

In addition, 118 others guests were apprehended during the raid at the nightspot, which also serves as a pickup joint for prostitutes and is notorious for attracting drug users. -- JP
