GMBI receives ISO award
JAKARTA (JP): Automobile manufacturer PT General Motors Buana Indonesia (GMBI), the Indonesian producer of Opel vehicles, announced yesterday it has been awarded an ISO 9002 certification for its production and service quality.
Company president Bill Botwick said the certification proves that Opel offers an international quality standard even at a time when the market was sluggish.
He is confident it will help GMBI win market share from competitors who cannot offer their buyers such quality standards.
"The market is down but this is not a time to sit on our hands waiting for something to happen. Others may be in retreat but that is not our strategy and we have now gained a considerable advantage over our competitors," Botwick said.
The company, a subsidiary of the giant General Motors Corporation, began producing automobiles in Indonesia in 1994. (gis)
