GM Website Win

DETROIT: General Motors has been recognized with awards for its gm.com and buick.com websites in the first-ever international 1997 WebAwards. The awards were presented by the Web Marketing Association, an independent Boston-based organization that evaluates and recognizes the standard of excellence for corporate websites on the World Wide Web.

The gm.com site won a Standard of Excellence award based on its innovative design, navigation and usefulness to its target audience.

The site, which contains more than 330 pages and 250 links, includes comprehensive information about GM, its divisions, subsidiaries, products and dealerships worldwide; 15-minute delayed stock pricing information and daily news updates; an innovative Create Your Own Path feature that allows users to select a variety of options based on their personal preferences for certain types of information; and select a vehicle, a unique feature which enables consumers to answer lifestyle questions that match their personal transportation needs to a GM brand.

In addition to GM's corporate site, Buick was recognized with an Outstanding 1997 WebAward for its buick.com website, created by Bowne Internet Solutions in Birmingham, Michigan.
