Glaxo to probe food poisoning

JAKARTA: Glaxo-SmithKline, producer of Ribena beverage, expressed concern on Tuesday over alleged food poisoning in Surabaya that resulted in 40 elementary school students being hospitalized.

The company has claimed responsibility over the alleged food poisoning, which ensued after the students drank free Ribena blackcurrant-flavored beverage. The beverage was distributed by Glaxo-SmithKline as a promotional effort to Barata Jaya I Elementary School.

Rosalie Ticman from public relations agency R&R Communications said on Wednesday in a statement on behalf of the company that Glaxo-SmithKline would investigate the incident. -- JP
