Give Tyson a chance

Bill Guerin's letter on the Tyson-Holyfield encounter (July 3) was nothing but comical entertainment for readers. The content of his letter seemed to suggest he's a member of an imperialist school of thought. Here is an indisputable example. He was absolutely one-sided in his analysis whereby Tyson was the wrongdoer and he could not see any positive aspect of the great heavyweight.

Words like "belligerent bully", "wife beater" etc., were used even though they were irrelevant and had no connection with Tyson's encounter with Holyfield. He also said: "Tyson flatly refused to fight George Foreman, content to be king in a land of dwarfs."

Tyson has the right to accept or refuse to fight with a fellow boxer. In one case, he accepted to fight against Bruno. In that fight, within a few minutes Tyson had beaten Bruno like a lion would take to a goat.

I don't know Tyson personally, nor have I ever met him. I only rely on the fair analysis of the issue, and this is my first and last statement on it.
