Get connected

The Jakarta Post should start building its website on the World Wide Web. I do not see any reason for delay.

First, The Jakarta Post, like Kompas, belongs to the Gramedia Group. Kompas already has its own homepage, as do the other two English newspapers, The Indonesia Times and Indonesian Observer. Their Uniform Resource Locater addresses, respectively, are http://www.indocon.com/indotimes and http://www.bb.bbg.co.id/observer/ind_obs.html.

By having a homepage, letters to the editor can be sent through electronic mail, as could contributions from freelance writers, especially those who domicile abroad. No retyping needed. It saves a lot of time and energy.

Besides, articles from The Jakarta Post could be read and accessed by millions of people all over the world.

So, why delay? I look forward to reading The Jakarta Post from my computer, pasting articles to my word processor and sending letters to the editor through electronic mail.
