Germany, IPB team up to rebuild Aceh

BOGOR: Germany's Goettingen University and the Bogor
Agriculture Institute (IPB) are set to collaborate in an effort
to rebuild devastated areas of North Sumatra and Aceh provinces.

Head of the IPB's international programs unit, Ma'mun Sarma,
said on Friday that Goettingen University, with the help of the
German government, had offered a helping hand for the rebuilding
of these areas, particularly in the education sector.

Seven members of the German parliamentary committee overseeing
science and technology have met with officials from the IPB to
discuss the cooperation, Ma'mun said.

"The IPB, Goettingen University and Syah Kuala University in Aceh
will immediately sign a Memorandum of Understanding in Germany to
hammer out the details of the cooperation," Ma'mun said. --JP.
