Germany helps RI combat terrorism
JAKARTA: The German Embassy in Jakarta opened a Federal Criminal Police Office here on Tuesday to help the Indonesian police combat terrorism and transnational crimes.
The office will also support the Indonesian police with technical assistance and training.
Currently, five Indonesian police officers are preparing for a training program in Germany, scheduled for January next year.
A delegation of high-ranking senior officers from the German Federal Criminal Police Office are visiting Jakarta, headed by Juergen Maurer, head of the department of state security and antiterrorism.
Beside opening the liaison office, the German delegation will organize discussions on international terrorism and organized crimes as well as possible areas of future cooperation.
Germany has dispatched 59 officers to 48 liaison offices in 45 countries around the world. -- JP
