German films at Goethe Institute

JAKARTA (JP): A series of film screenings and a discussion on German movies will focus on the works of Reinhard Hauff, a director known for showcasing Germany's marginalized groups.

The Goethe Institute, which is organizing the event, will show five films from June 10 to 13 at 7:30 p.m. Another four films will be shown from June 14 to June 15 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The event will take place at the Erasmus Huis Dutch cultural center on Jl. H.R. Rasuna Said in Kuningan, South Jakarta.

A discussion will follow the last show on Saturday, which will include other parties involved in filmmaking.

The first film to be shown on Monday is a 90-minute feature titled Mathias Kneissl, which depicts a criminal living in the early 20th century.

A press release from the Institute said that Hauff, born in 1939, now chairs the Berlin Academy of Film and Television. (anr)
