Gen. Fabian Ver not siding with people

A portion of the article Soeharto's fall a near repeat of Sukarno's ruin by Tjipta Lesmana of May 29 reads: "Similar was the downfall of President Marcos of the Philippines. At critical moments, Defense Minister Gen. Fidel Ramos and Chief of the Armed Forces Gen. Fabian Fer defected and sided with the people."

For the correct information, please note the following: It was Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile who led the mutiny against Marcos and was joined later by Gen. Fidel Ramos, Chief of the defunct Philippine Constabulary at that time Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Fabian Ver (not Fer), who was loyal as ever to Marcos until they fled to Honolulu, Hawaii, never defected to the side of the people. He is, even now, in hiding in another country.
