Gasoline shortage still plagues Cirebon

CIREBON, West Java: The gasoline shortage continued in Cirebon and Indramayu regencies, West Java on Tuesday with queues 500 meters long at some gasoline stations in the area.

The shortage has pushed up the price of gasoline. In Cirebon, the price of kerosene rose to Rp 1,300 per liter from the normal price of Rp 875 per liter. In some remote areas, the price of kerosene was even as high as Rp 1,800 per liter.

Amel, a housewife in Pamengkang subdistrict, Cirebon regency, had to queue from early in the morning in order to get kerosene. "I got kerosene after I queued for four hours," she said. -- JP
