Gas producers' body holds congress, seminar
NUSA DUA, BALI (JP): The Association of Indonesian Gas Producers opened here yesterday its sixth congress and technical seminar on gas production in the country.
The two-day seminar, attended by 200 foreign and local participants, features a number of prominent speakers, including Iman Taufik, a deputy chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Wardijasa, an assistant to the state minister of investment, and noted economist Dorodjatun Kuntjoro- Jakti.
Two foreign speakers -- Brian Johnson from Cryofab Industries and Koji Sato of Nippon Sanso Corp. -- also will address the seminar.
Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Gas Producers Soemantojo said at the seminar's opening ceremony that the country is currently facing an oversupply of industrial gasses. But demand is expected to increase by approximately 40 percent in 1998.
He reported that of Indonesia's production of industrial gasses, 79 percent is nitrogen, 19 percent oxygen, and 2 percent other gasses. (33/13)
