Garuda's smoking policy

In regard to the letter by Yuliyanti complaining about the smoking policy during a Garuda Jeddah-Jakarta flight (The Jakarta Post, Jan. 8), first and foremost, we would like to convey our sincerest apology for the inconvenience.

We do understand the discomfort you experienced at that time.

Further, we would like to let you know that Garuda has implemented a "no smoking policy" on most of its flights, with Middle East routes an exception with a smoking section in the very last row. Furthermore, effective Jan. 1, 2004, you will enjoy no smoking flights on all Garuda flights.
