Garuda to resume KL flights

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia
Airlines said on Monday it would reopen the route linking Medan,
North Sumatra to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, using Boeing 737's
starting in March 2000.

Iriansyah Antemas, the company's international marketing
officer said in Pekan Baru, Riau, Garuda was ready to compete
with other airlines who also serve the destination.

In July 1999, he said, due to the economic crisis, the company
had to reduce its international flight frequency as part of
massive cost-cutting measures to cope with the economic crisis.
