Garuda to increase Aceh flights

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: State-owned PT Garuda Indonesia plans to increase flights into Aceh due to rising demand ahead of first year anniversary of the tsunami disaster on Dec. 26.

The plan is being drawn up after the company received information that many foreign guests, families and relatives of tsunami victims and journalists would visit the province to commemorate the disaster.

The company is currently coordinating with the Aceh Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Body (BRR) to obtain the exact number of guests planning to visit the province, said Sukamdo, the general manager of Garuda's Banda Aceh operations. -- Antara
