Garuda should be consistent

I fully agree with Andrew Charles's comments about Garuda in his letter titled Garuda: Don't be so negative (The Jakarta Post, Nov. 19).

After the horrible bomb attacks on Bali, everybody gave their best to restore the image and situation of Bali. A lot of people contributed great support, which was not even seen or mentioned. Hotels and other establishments made special-offer holiday packages. At that time, the media also mentioned that Garuda, the national flag carrier of Indonesia, would provide support by giving discounts of up to 30 percent for flights to Bali.

We told these matters to our guests, who were still hesitant to come to Bali. However, their travel agent in Germany had been informed already earlier that Garuda had decided to cancel all flights from Germany to Bali. This was confirmed in the Post on Nov. 19.

How will the foreigners visit Bali if even the state-owned airline keeps changing its policy?
