Garuda gets FAA license
JAKARTA (JP): The Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF), the aircraft maintenance arm of flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, has received prolonged recognition from the United State's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Garuda announced yesterday that the FAA had conducted a series of evaluations on GMF's performance and the quality of its employees, administration and equipment.
The certification recognizes the GMF's maintenance of Boeing B-747-100 and B-747-300 jets, as well as McDonnell Douglas DC-9, DC-10 and MD-11 jets.
The FAA's prolonged certification recognizes the airworthiness of the maintenance facility's services, including the overhauling, reassembling, modification, checking and testing of engines made by General Electric, Rolls-Royce, Garrett Companies and Pratt & Whitney.
The GMF has so far earned certifications from the Thai Department of Aviation, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, the Indonesian Air Force, and the Directorate General of Air Transportation. The facility expects to be soon recognized by the Joint Aviation Authorities of Europe. (icn)
