Garuda flies Makassar-Surabaya

JAKARTA (JP): National flag-carrier Garuda Indonesia announced on Tuesday the opening of its new Citilink route between Makassar, South Sulawesi and Surabaya, East Java, beginning on Wednesday.

Flights on the route will be every day, except for Tuesdays, with a departure time in Makassar at 10:10 a.m. local time and in Surabaya at 07:20 a.m. local time, Garuda said in a statement.

The new Makassar-Surabaya route was opened after the success of "Citilink" flights on the Yogyakarta-Surabaya route on Aug 5, and Surabaya-Balikpapan-Tarakan in July.

"Citilink" is Garuda's economy flight brand, aimed at providing affordable flights to domestic destinations.

The cost of the flights was kept to a minimum because the airline uses only its own aircraft, as opposed to leased planes, and no meals are served during the flights, Garuda said in the statement.

Passengers can book their "Citilink" flights through www.ga- citilink.com or Garuda's toll-free call center at 0-800-1- 454545.(tnt)
