Garuda facility earns Singapore certificate
JAKARTA (JP): The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore certified as airworthy yesterday the maintenance services of the state-owned airline Garuda Indonesia.
The authority's certificate was handed over by its director Wong Woon Liong to Garuda's president Soepandi in a ceremony at the airline's maintenance center here.
Soepandi said the certification indicated that the operation of Garuda's maintenance facility was of the quality required by the Singapore Airworthiness Standards.
The certification recognizes the airworthiness of the maintenance facility's services, including the overhauling, reassembling, modification, checking and testing of CFM56-3 and Garret TSCP 700/GTC85 engines made by General Electric of the United States.
The recognition conferred by the certification also extends to the maintenance of hydraulically-driven and pneumatically-driven components, electrical and safety equipment and instruments.
Garuda Maintenance Facilities has serviced aircraft of World Airways, AirLiberte Latur, Air Lebanon, GPA, Kuwait Air, Middle East Airways, Sempati Air, Pelita Air Service, Gatari, Airfast, Bouraq Indonesia Airlines, Merpati Nusantara Airlines, Indonesia Air Transport and the Indonesian Air Force.
In November 1992, the facility received recognition from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration for its services in aircraft component replacement and in the treatment, checking and overhauling of Boeing B-747 and McDonnell Douglas DC-9 and DC-10 aircraft.
The 115-hectare facility is situated near the Soekarno-Hatta airport. (32)
