Garbageman mobbed over rape

JAKARTA (JP): Angry residents of Kebon Manggis in East Jakarta
mobbed a garbageman, after hearing reports that he had allegedly
raped a 19-year-old housemaid.

Matraman Police Chief Comr. Unggul said that Mrs. Simanjuntak
had filed a complaint about the incident that happened to her
servant, identified only as SI.

Quoting her statement, Unggul said that on Friday afternoon,
Mrs. Simanjuntak was surprised to see the way SI walked, which
indicated that she was in real pain.

SI told Mrs. Simanjuntak that she had been given a pill to
swallow by a friend, Rachmat, on Friday morning, which she
foolishly did, Unggul said.

After swallowing the pill, Unggul said, Rachmat allegedly
ordered SI to go to his house, where he would be waiting for her.

At Rachmat's house, which was reportedly empty at the time,
Rachmat ordered Siti to take off her gold necklace, and hand it
over to him. Rachmat later sexually abused her and then told the
woman to return to her boss' home, Unggul said.

"SI told police detectives that during the entire incident,
she felt she was not in a conscious state." (ylt)
