Garbage lands man in court

BOGOR: A resident of the upmarket housing complex Bukit Sentul was tried at Cibinong District Court on Wednesday for snatching and copying a document containing the names of people who had not paid their garbage and security fees.

Kunarso Suryaputra, the defendant, was tried following a lawsuit filed by Muhayat and his colleagues at PT Sukaputra Graha Cemerlang, a company hired to collect garbage from houses in the complex.

According to Muhayat, Kunarso caused them inconvenience by taking the document and copying it.

He said that Kunarso, the chairman of community unit (RW) in the complex, had asked why garbage from a number of houses was not being collected.

Muhayat answered that Kunarso and other people named on the document that had not paid their garbage and security fees. Kunarso then snatched the document from Muhayat and copied it in his facsimile.

The fees range from Rp 100,000 to Rp 600,000 depending on the house size. Some 700 residents have not paid their fees because they are waiting for an explanation from the complex developer on how the fees were set.--JP
