Gamblers get 3.5 months

JAKARTA (JP): The North Jakarta District Court has sentenced
20 people, mostly blue-collar workers, to 3.5 months for
gambling.

Judge Azynar Abbas said in his verdict Thursday that the
defendants were caught red-handed gambling with dice at Kalijodo
red-light district on Jan. 28 during a raid by police and the
military.

Abbas said Rp 1.6 million and dice from the suspects, aged
between 20 and 50, had been seized, Antara news agency reported.

The offenders were Hou Lie Ching, Gunarto, Suliman Kusuma, Ng
Wee Khiong, Watanto, Japong, Darmawan, Alwizar Ahui, Wasto,
Suwandi, Zainal Arifin, Sugiarto Ahiong, Hasan, Jumaali, Kou Jong
Liong, Ateng Sudibya, Husin, Abdul Manan and Azis Maulana. (pan)
