Gale-force wind hits Hualoy

AMBON, Maluku: A gale-force wind hit Hualoy subdistrict, Seram regency, on Thursday night, damaging at least 26 houses.

No fatalities have been reported.

Hualoy subdistrict chief Djafar Hehanusa said that, following the gale-force wind, local residents ran in droves to higher ground for fear of a tsunami.

Gale-force winds hit the subdistrict seven years ago, not claiming any lives but damaging 10 houses. -- JP
