Gadjah Mada offers studies on Mideast

YOGYAKARTA: Gadjah Mada University in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will establish a center for Middle Eastern Studies here.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed by the university's rector, Ichlasul Amal, and Djohan S. Syahperi, chief of the Center for Research and Development at the foreign affairs ministry.

Ichlasul said after the signing ceremony that the center's would monitor developments in the Middle East and improve awareness of the region.

He said that the center would invite Middle East experts to attend seminars.

The center would also help formulate Indonesian foreign policy on Middle Eastern countries, he added. (44)
