From pupa to souvenir

Indonesia's vast territory possesses an astonishing biodiversity, and Papua is definitely not an exception.

Some pictures presented here are just the few beauty of the various biodiversities.

Some species of butterfly are breed in the Arfak Natural Conservation, some 25 kilometers from Manokwari. The conservation area lies 1,000 meter above sea level.

There are some species of the insect, be they classified in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) or not.

The nature transforms the eggs into caterpillars, which then transform into chrysalis. After a about 30 days, the chrysalis transform into butterflies. It is the metamorphosis.

The humans, however, give another phase for the metamorphosis -- preserve the butterflies, put on frame, and make them into souvenirs.
