French national detained in Bali

DENPASAR, Bali: Police here have detained a French national who they say was caught red-handed selling heroin and hashish to a local customer in the Gelegar Permai housing complex.

Bali Police spokesman Maj. Y. Suyatmo, said here on Friday that the suspect, identified only as AHH, was arrested in a raid on May 18 with 100.6 grams of heroin in his possession.

In addition, the police also reportedly confiscated 1.6 grams of heroin and 0.5 gram of hashish from his customer, IKS.

The contraband has a street value of tens of millions of rupiah and was packed in plastic bags.

Antara, which reported the case, did not disclose why the police released information on the case 10 days after the arrest.
