Free medical services
TANGERANG, West Java (JP): All couples, new mothers, mothers- to-be and infants here will receive free medical services and family planning guidance at local centers on June 24.
The free services and guidance will be given by midwives in cooperation with local hospitals and the office of family planning board to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Indonesian Midwives Association.
Chairperson of the association's Tangerang branch office, Sopiah KS, told The Jakarta Post on Saturday that the social activities held during Indonesian Midwives Association's Charity Month is designed to help reduce the infant and mother mortality rates and the number of births in order to make the national family planning program a success.
According to head of the local health office, HP Nuriman, all Tangerang residents, including those living in remote areas, deserve the free services.
The guidance, given by medical experts, will include information on AIDS. (18/bsr)
