Free healthcare for the needy

TANGERANG: The municipality administration announced on Friday that it will extend free health services to the poor in every district public health center.

Health agency director Nuriman Machyudin said that all medical expenses will now be subsidized by the administration.

He said that medical cardholders will only have to pay Rp 2,000 (22 US cents) as an administrative fee. Patients usually pay up to Rp 30,000 for a consultation, medicine and an administrative fee.

The administration will also provide ambulances to transport patients to the hospital.--JP
