Free debate in VP choice

The crisis of confidence in the Indonesian government is mainly because its executive does not talk and listen to the people. As the House of Representatives tries to improve its image by working more actively in finding solution to problems facing the country, new procedures need to be developed and implemented in choosing candidates for vice president in the hope that transparency and openness are practiced.

In the preliminary running of the VP election, if there are two or more candidates -- Harmoko and B.J. Habibie for example -- then the House should hold free debate to determine the VP candidate.

By having a clear picture of the candidates, people, and especially the House members, can easily gauge how good the candidates are and choose the one who suits the country and the people best.
